Meet the designer João Bruno Videira.

He`s a very nice guy who makes this beautiful, solid recicled chairs, benches and tables, using wool threads. He studied to be a journalist, but now he´s a full time designer, living and working near Évora, in a small village with a big name: Nossa Senhora da Graça do Divor. For more information, see his blog.

His workplace is located just behind this church:

Ex-votos galore

Outside the small village of Azaruja, there´s this small chapel with the walls covered with hundreds of ex-votos from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. There are still pilgrinages held today, inspite of the ancient houses around the chapell beeing part of a laid back hotel with a natural swimming pool (with frogs and fish and no chemicals) and a self-service bar. When I visited the chapel, there was a woman praying inside. I wonder how they conciliate a place of devotion with a hotel...

That´s human hair under the glass, and the skin of a big snake on the wall. I wonder why the skin of a tropical snake ended up in a place of devotion instead of a museum...

In and around Estremoz

Barry McGee? No. These are hidraulic tiles from the workshop of Lúcio Zagalo, in Estremoz.

I have an exhibition of my paintings in Estremoz, during June and July, at Páteo dos Solares. I´ll post more opening pictures.
In that region they have huge quarries to extract marble. Works in marble abound since the romans.

My first grafiti

I used spray cans and pens to paint this side of a column in a bar.
I particularly enjoied painting over flaten leaves and cut papers. Some details:

This is the candle lamp I posted about last time. I painted the parts that were replaced and hang it on a wall.
