This monastery was built to celebrate the victory of the portuguese army over the castilians, in the battle of Aljubarrota, in 1385. Nuno Álvares Pereira (that´s him ridding a horse in that statue)was the commander of the portuguese troops. On the left, you can see a group of spanish school children. WATCH OUT SPANISH CHILDREN!!

Last saturday I went to visit this small historic village . Inside this old church I saw an amazing exhibition of paintings by the british artist John Hyatt called "This paradise we never left"-"Este paraíso que nunca deixámos".

It´s a great pleasure listening to Henry Miller:

In my wc I have a wooden stool that I painted with flowers, many years ago. Today I had the chance to notice, once again, that I painted them with diferent number of petals ( from seven to ten). Later, as I was watching this documentary, I noticed the flowers on the wall-paper, in Henry Miller´s wc also have diferent number of petals. It is a small, strange and happy coincidence that made me feel a bit closer to the great genius: we both have pictures of flowers in the wc drawn with a varying number of petals!
